Tony Award-nominee Mary Testa, last seen Off-Broadway in See What I Wanna See, will take the Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St.) stage for her one-woman show "A Work in Progress" on October 29th and 30th at 9:30 PM.

The concert will be directed by Jonathan Freeman, with musical direction by Michael Starobin.  "The show's premise deals with the concept of a sleepless night; an active mind. Mary will be singing the songs of Rusty Magee, Michael John LaChuisa, Ricky Ian Gordon, Jill Solbule, Bolcum and Weinstein, and more," state notes on the Joe's Pub website.

Testa, known for her belty voice and earthy presence, was nominated for a 2001 Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony for her performance in the revival of 42nd Street, and most recently appeared in Michael John LaChiusa's See What I Wanna See.  Other Broadway credits include Marie Christine (also by LaChiusa), On the Town (for which she received her first Tony nomination), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Rink (standing by for Liza Minnelli), Barnum and Marilyn: An American Fable. Her extensive off-Broadway credits include String of Pearls, The Wax, Boys Don't Wear Lipstick, The Vagina Monologues, Tartuffe, Scapin, Lucky Stiff and In Trousers.  She won Obie Awards for her performances in On the Town and From Above.
