According to Deadline.com, Broadway vets Mary Louise Parker (Proof) and Peter Sarsgaard (The Seagull) are starring in NBC's new 8-episode miniseries, THE SLAP. John Robin Baitz (Brothers and Sisters) is set to write and Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids are Alright) to direct. Click here for the original story.

Based on an Australian series of the same name, which starred recent Tony Award-winner Sophie Okenodo (A Raisin in the Sun), THE SLAP centers around a seemingly inconsequential act, a slap on the face from a man to someone else's child, produces a family conflict that causes everyone involved to discover secrets and question their values. Sarsgaard plays Hector, a family man who has trouble resisting his wife's teenage receptionist. Parker will play a friend of Hector's, who is the head writer for the TV show and becomes romantically involved with her show's very young leading man.

Mary Louise Parker is best known for her portrayal of Nancy Botwin in Showtime's series Weeds, for which she won a Golden Globe Award. She earned a Tony Award for her role in the drama Proof (2011), and recently appeared in The Snow Geese (2013) on Broadway opposite Danny Burstein.

Peter Sarsgaard recently played a man on death row, Ray Seward, in AMC's The Killing (2013), as well as Woody Allen's Academy Award-winning film, Blue Jasmine (2013). He also appeared in the 2008 Broadway revival of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull (2008).
