Mary Kay, one of the world's largest beauty and direct selling companies, was founded on the principle that true beauty starts with inner beauty - the beauty of doing good and serving others. As a tribute to the philanthropic spirit of the company's iconic founder Mary Kay Ash, and to commemorate the company's 50th anniversary, Mary Kay is launching the Mary Kay One Woman CanTMMakeover Contest. Women around the world will have the opportunity to be pampered with a makeover and to change the lives of others.

In 1963, Mary Kay Ash founded "Beauty by Mary Kay" in Dallas with $5,000 and a dream of enriching women's lives. Today, U.S. participants in Mary Kay's One Woman Can Makeover Contest get the chance to pay forward Mary Kay Ash's spirit of giving and dreaming big with an opportunity to win one of 50 $5,000 grants to a charity of their choice that supports women and children.

"It's astounding to think what one woman can do - what one woman like Mary Kay Ash did - with $5,000 and a dream," said Sheryl Adkins-Green, Mary Kay Inc.'s chief marketing officer. "Mary Kay is proud to Honor the legacy of our founder and the impact her company has had over the last 50 years by giving women around the world $5,000 grants to assist other women in need."

Mary Kay Inc. has a long history of giving hope and support to women and children. Efforts to address domestic violence prevention and research for women's cancers has received more than $49 million in grant funding from The Mary Kay FoundationSM since 1996.

To enter Mary Kay's One Woman Can Makeover Contest, participants receive a personalized makeover from an Independent Beauty Consultant and submit their "before" and "after" pictures with an entry form and a brief statement about how the participant would make a positive impact in her community if she won a $5,000 grant. Entrants can then share their makeover and ask friends and family to vote for them. The top 250 vote getters become finalists, from which 50 winners in U.S.will be selected to receive a $5,000 grant to a charity of their choice, subject to sponsor's final approval, that supports women and children and one $5,000 international vacation to the destination of their choice. Entries will be accepted at www.marykay.com through May 10, 2013.

The One Woman Can Makeover Contest is part of a year-long celebration of Mary Kay's 50th anniversary which culminates on Sept. 13, 2013, the anniversary of the day Mary Kay Ash founded the company. The global celebration launched on March 8, 2013, International Women's Day, with the first-ever Mary Kay Global Makeover Day, an event where more than 20 Mary Kay markets around the world hosted the most number of makeovers in 24 hours. Nearly 50,000 makeovers were logged during Mary Kay's global launch of its 50th anniversary celebration.
