Lin-Manuel Miranda to Guest Star on CBS's HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER!

More casting news from CBS' HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER! Joining the ninth and final season in a guest starring role will be Broadway's Lin-Manuel Miranda.

HIMYM creator Carter Bays announced Miranda's appearance today via Twitter: "Here's another bit of #HIMYM casting propaganda: A guest appearance by our good friend @Lin_Manuel Miranda!"

Miranda's musical In The Heights received four 2008 Tony Awards (including Best Orchestrations, Best Choreography and Best Musical), with Miranda receiving a Tony Award for Best Score, as well as a nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. Additionally, In The Heights also took home a 2009 Grammy Award for its Original Broadway Cast Album, and was also recognized as a Finalist for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in Drama. More recently, Miranda wrote the music and lyrics for the new Broadway musical Bring It On.

Miranda is the recipient of the 2007 ASCAP Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award. The actor's TV and film credits include The Electric Company, Sesame Street, The Sopranos, House, Modern Family, The Sex and the City Movie and The Odd Life of Timothy Green, as well as the recent TV series Do No Harm.

CBS also announced on Wednesday that Bryan Cranston would reprise his guest starring role as Ted's former boss, arrogant architect Hammond Druthers, this season.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER returned on Monday at 8:00 pm/ET. The comedy about Ted and how he fell in love. This season takes place over the course of Barney and Robin's wedding weekend, when the lives of the gang change dramatically. Ted is about to move to Chicago, Marshall and Lily are about to move to Rome, and Robin and Barney are about to become husband and wife. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future.
