An industry reading of Neurosis: A New Musical will be presented today and tomorrow, October 24-25 at Ripley-Grier Studios.

Neurosis features a book by Allan Rice, music by Ben Green, and lyrics by Greg Edwards. Rice has written for television shows including "The New Adventures of Old Christine" on CBS and the upcoming Kelsey Grammer-Martin Lawrence Project on FX. Green is a veteran of Hasty Pudding Theatricals and a frequent orchestrator for Laurence O'Keefe (Heathers, Sarah Plain and Tall). Edwards, a two-time finalist for the Fred Ebb Award, has collaborated with Marvin Hamlisch and Arthur Laurents.

Directed by Walter Ryon with music direction by Jeff Theiss, the cast of Neurosis includes Ryan Andes (Big Fish), Natalie Venetia Belcon (Avenue Q, Rent), Danny Gardner (Parallel Exit), Leigh Ann Larkin (A Little Night Music, Gypsy), Liz Larsen (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Hairspray), Joe Medeiros (West Side Story,Wicked), Kate Rockwell (Rock of Ages, Bring It On), and Stuart Zagnit (Newsies, Seussical). Mary Stazewski stage manages.

"Friends" meets Woody Allen, all in a Broadway-style musical, Neurosis is a buddy comedy about two best friends - a man and his neurosis - and what happens when one of them meets the girl of his dreams.

Neurosis premiered this summer at the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival where it enjoyed an extended run. The Ithaca Times called Neurosis "silly, sappy, smart, and classy-and terribly funny... It's irresistible!," and the Syracuse New Times wrote that the show "achieves the success that standing ovation crowds crave."
This invitation-only reading of Neurosis is produced by Devon Berkshire. For more information about the show, visit neurosisthemusical.com.
