Kerry Butler to Record Solo CD; Contest to Attend Session

Kerry Butler, currently starring as Kira/Clio in the critically acclaimed Xanadu will be in the studio later this month recording her debut solo album for PS Classics, due for release later this year.  Featuring a selection of songs already handpicked by Ms. Butler - a special additional track will be decided via a contest being held on her official website KerryButler.net/CDContest.htm

"For a few years now I've been asked if I was ever going to record my own CD and I'm finally doing it with PS Classics. I am so excited about this project and wanted to do something unique - which was to throw it back to the people who have made suggestions in the past. So I decided I would leave one slot open after I chose the tracks that I just had to sing - and then let the listeners decide what that final song should be," says Kerry.

The contest will run from now through January 30 with the winning song chosen by Ms. Butler.  If more than one person suggested the same song, ONE winner will be chosen at random.   The winner will then get the opportunity to attend the recording session for that song as well as their own personalized signed copy of the CD when it is released.

In addition to Xanadu, Kerry Butler has starred on Broadway as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Outer Critics Circle Award nom.), the original Penny in Hairspray (Clarence Derwent Award; Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle noms), Belle in Beauty and the Beast (NY and Toronto), Eponine in Les Miserables  and Ms. Jones in Blood Brothers . Off-Broadway, she originated the roles of Shelley in Bat Boy: The Musical, Maddy in Prodigal, Isabelle in Miracle Brothers and DeeDee in the musical The Opposite of Sex. Other: The "I" Word, The Folsom Head. Workshops include: The Man in the White Suit; Pandora's Box; L'amore; and Bright Lights, Big City. On film she has been seen in Borough of Kings and Campfire Stories. On TV: NBC's new show "Lipstick Jungle, "One Life to Live" (Claudia Reston), Second Honeymoon (with Roma Downey), "Another World, "Sesame Street" and "Hometown".
