Jill Scott Joins CBS Drama Pilot SECOND SIGHT

Deadline reports that Jill Scott has joined the cast of the upcoming CBS drama pilot SECOND SIGHT. The project is from from Michael Cuesta and Carol Mendelsohn. The actress joins previously announced cast member Jason Lee.

The drama will be based on the British series of the same name and is described as "a gothic psychological thriller about Tanner (Lee), the lead detective with the New Orleans Police Department who is hiding the fact that he has an ocular disorder that causes him to have horrifying hallucinations."

The actress will portray eye doctor Dr. Callier, described as "the specialist who tends to Tanner's ocular disease."

Scott is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, actress and poet. In 2000 she released her multi-platinum selling debut, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1. Her followups Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 released in 2004, and The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 released in 2007 both achieved gold status. She made her cinematic debut in the films Hounddog and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? in 2007.

She has also appeared as the lead role in the BBC/HBO series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and recently starred in a TV remake of 'Steel Magnolias' for Lifetime.
