The Intiman Theatre in Seattle will present a 2007 season that includes productions of classics, an adaptation of a classic novel, a world premiere play by Craig Lucas, and Adam Guettel and Lucas' musical The Light in the Piazza.

The Light in the Piazza, with music and lyrics by Guettel and a book by Lucas, will run from April 17th through 29th.  "The romantic and rhapsodic musical, which premiered at Intiman in 2003 and received six Tony Awards for its Lincoln Center production two years later, returns to Seattle for a special 'homecoming' engagement as part of its National Tour. Featuring new songs and orchestrations, a revised book and a stunning physical production that captures the magic of Italy and the passion of first love, the direct-from-Broadway production will run at The Paramount Theatre, co-presented by Broadway Across America – Seattle, Intiman and Seattle Theatre Group," state press notes.  Bartlett Sher directs.

Thorton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth, directed by Sher, will be presented from April 28th through June 2nd.  The play, which won the Pulitzer Prize, is "a comedy about a typical American family—in a not-so-typical American family drama. Wilder's allegorical Everyfamily (think Adam and Eve, married for 5,000 years and representing the whole human race) live in a world continuously at risk of being trampled by a dinosaur, threatened by an iceberg, ravaged by a flood and ruined by war."

Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, staged by Sher, will run from June 12th through July 18th.   "Chekhov, perhaps more than any other playwright, illuminates how much of life is lived in the moments between hope and despair. In this intimate family drama, Chekhov richly explores what happens when his characters rebel against their own thwarted desires, and act on their passions."

The world premiere of Lucas' A Prayer for My Enemy will play from July 27th through August 26th.  "In the heart of America, a fractured family seeks ways to come together despite the secrets that each one of them holds in their hearts. The gulf of understanding that separates them is mirrored in the fractures that divide our country. Intiman Associate Artistic Director Craig Lucas has long taken on some of the most important social issues of contemporary culture in such works as Singing Forest, The Dying Gaul (both produced at Intiman) and the landmark film Longtime Companion."

Christopher Sergel's adaptation of Harper Lee's classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird will follow from September 14th through October 28th; Fracaswell Hyman will direct.  The play, presented as part of the American Cycle series, is "an artful and compassionate story of innocence, courage and what it means to be a family. This most beloved and widely read Pulitzer Prize winner tells the extraordinary and unforgettable story of life in the American Deep South."

The 10th anniversary production of Langston Hughes' Black Nativity will run from November 28th through December 28th.  "A holiday tradition featuring Pastor Patrinell Wright and the Reverend Dr. Samuel B. McKinney, Black Nativity is an expression of faith through song and dance, one that reaches audiences of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs. The production features gospel performances by the Total Experience Gospel Choir and the Black Nativity Choir, modern and traditional choreography performed by an ensemble of dancers, and an on-stage band. Black Nativity is directed by Jacqueline Moscou and choreographed by Kabby Mitchell III."
