INTAR has announced that the 2016-'17 Season will conclude with a UNIT 52 NewWorks Lab production of PENNY PINBALL PRESENTS THE BEACONS, a new play by Georgina Escobar, directed by Unit 52 Director J. Julian Christopher with additional material by UNIT52.

Performances will begin Tuesday June 27th and continue through Friday June 30th, all at 7:30 pm, at INTAR's Theatre, 500 West 52nd Street, on the 4th floor. Tickets are only $5, and may be purchased at www.intartheatre.org or by calling 212/352-3101 or toll free, 866-811-4111.

PENNY PINBALL PRESENTS THE BEACONS is a action-packed, heavy-punchin', uber stylized story following a pinball narrative that re-imagines Manhattan as a Debtor's prison. Siblings blur the boundaries of game and reality as a mysterious woman calls for a multi-spective approach to storytelling. Loosely inspired by pinball, and the 1970s cult classic "The Warriors" this femme fiction includes original music by Red Light Cameras and Zechs Marquise.

GEORGINA ESCOBAR is the maker of hyper-sensical, ridiculous, and sometimes impossible narratives that run current systems of thinking through different filters of visual, musical, and interpretative theoretical logic. Selected credits include: All Strings Considered (New York Children's Theatre 2017), El Muerto Vagabundo (Milagro, Portland OR 2016); Sweep (Aurora Theatre, GA 2017), The Unbearable Likeness of JONES (TMTC Reading NYC), Firerock The Musical (Magic Theatre Workshop 2016); Ash Tree (Duke City Repertory, Kennedy Center's National TYA Award); The Ruin (Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Words Afire Festival of New Works, 2011). J. JULIAN CHRISTOPHER received an MFA in acting from The Actors Studio Drama School at the New School (now called The New School for Drama). There he studied acting and appeared in various productions including TBA, Holiday Movies, and The Karaoke Show (directed by Diane Paulus). Awards include The 2009 Public Theater Emerging Writers Group Fellowship, a 2015 Queens Arts Council Grant, and The 2014 Best New Work Motif Award. Julian is an internationally produced playwright with productions in NYC, Chicago, Montréal, and Melbourne. He has workshopped his plays at LAByrinth Theater, TerraNova Collective, Fuse Theatre, Horse & CArt Theatre, and The Working Theatre. In November of 2015 his play, Animals Commit Suicide, received its world premiere at the First Floor Theatre in Chicago. His latest play, Locusts Have No King, had its world premiere at INTAR Theater in Spring of 2016. Some of his other plays include Alligator Mouth, Man Boobs, Nico was a Fashion Model, and ¡OSO FABULOSO! & The Bear Backs (music by Steve Sclafani). Julian won Best Director for his direction of Tweed Is Orange by Jodi Van Der Horn-Gibson for Variation Theatre's Avant Garde Arts Festival and received honors for Best Direction of a Devised Work at 2016 The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for his production of anOTHER. He is also the co-producer and co-writer of the hit web series, "Bulk- The Series" and half of the electronic rock duo RUBBER.
