The Texas Association of Partners in Education (TAPE) has announced that Houston Ballet's Education Outreach Program has been chosen as a recipient of the prestigious TAPE Gold Award in the Community Partnership Art Category. This award distinguishes Houston Ballet's Ben Stevenson Academy as a leader in developing innovative educational partnerships. Houston Ballet's Education Outreach Program is led by Academy Director Shelly Power and Education Outreach Coordinator Chase Cobb.

TAPE provides leadership and expertise for schools, families, businesses and communities to build partnerships that enhance student success. By identifying award-winning partnerships, TAPE is able to share practices that positively impact student outcomes. Houston Ballet Education Outreach will also be featured in the fifth edition of TAPE's signature publication, Soaring to New Heights in Education: Powerful Partnerships Across Texas, sponsored by Chevron.

Award recipients will be recognized at the TAPE Awards Luncheon and Annual Meeting on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11:30 am at the Austin Convention Center, 500 East Cesar Chavez in Austin, TX. Tickets may be purchased for $50 or at https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1031364-ReuCxeZg0l

"Each year the Texas Association of Partners in Education (TAPE) recognizes outstanding school district/business and community partnerships throughout our great state," commented Caleen Allen, General Manager for HISD Strategic Partnerships.

"There are about five categories of awards with one to four subcategories. In early October the HISD Strategic Partnerships Department submitted a nomination for Houston Ballet's Ben Stevenson Academy to receive a TAPE award because of the Academy's untiring, dedicated service to our district and the students of HISD. With great pride, I commend the Academy for its outstanding work within our district."
