After reading the article in the London Times about Hotsy Totsy Burlesque, Raoul Duke is hired by another magazine to come on down to the Slipper Room and check out what all the hubbub is about. Of course Dr. Gonzo tags along... and just as the Terry Gilliam tribute show is getting under way, the Great Red Shark screams to a halt on Stanton street and everything starts to spiral out of control.

Terry Gilliam's career has many highlights, not limited to his contributions to Monty Python and his brilliant writing and/or direction on films such as Brazil, Time Bandits, The Fisher King, 12 Monkeys and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. His archive of material is just waiting for a Burlesque tribute! And November happens to also be the 43rd anniversary of the publication of Hunter S. Thompson's FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS. (See what we did there?)

Featuring Terry Gilliam movie inspired performances by Cherry Pitz, Lefty Lucy, Liberty Rose, Mary Cyn, Matt Knife, Seedy Edie & Tiger Bay.

Handsome Brad as as Raoul Duke & Peter Aguero as Doctor Gonzo

Bella Vita warming up the crowd & Odette Coquette keeping everything neat and tidy.

Bat Country poster art by Ridge Carpenter.

And last but not least... it's PETER AGUERO'S BIRTHDAY THAT NIGHT! Come out to celebrate that, if nothing else.

Following on the footsteps of Hotsy Totsy Burlesque's successful The Big Lebowski, Doctor Who, Mad Men, Harry Potter and Star Wars 1978 Holiday Special tribute shows, Cherry Pitz and Joe the Shark present a burlesque tribute to legendary director Terry Gilliam. Hotsy Totsy Burlesque is New York's only episodic, monthly burlesque show featuring a different script each month and a rotating cast. Hotsy Totsy is a high camp soap opera featuring some of the best burlesque talent New York has to offer.

Once a month you are invited to the basement of The Home For Wayward Girls and Fallen Women. The residents of the home need money to keep their hotel open and to buy G-strings and glitter. Sadly, the shows have had their technical difficulties and in the past as they've had to combat, zombies, gangsters, human-animal hybrids, televangelists and snake oil salesmen. The performers promise you beautiful, clothing-averse women, lots of laughs, spinning tassels, and flying underpants. So join us for Hotsy Totsy Burlesque at The Home For Wayward Girls and Fallen Women where the motto is "We've fallen, we can't get up, and we like it that way!"

It's a feeling of having stumbled into a bar outside of the space-time continuum, where the best bits of sexy 20th century aesthetics (early jazz, false eyelashes, garter belts) have been gathered together for some smart and sensual dancers to play with. - www.nytheatre.com
