Harrisburg Shakespeare Company Presents DEATH OF A SALESMAN by Arthur Miller

Gamut Theatre Group's Harrisburg Shakespeare Company (HSC) opens Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller on November 5, 2016 on the Select Medical Mainstage at the New Gamut Theatre located at 15 N. 4th Street in downtown Harrisburg. The box office and bar will open at 6:30 p.m. and the play will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the performance are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors/military, and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.GamutTheatre.org (http://www.gamuttheatre.org/) . Following the opening night performance, a reception will be held where guests can meet and mingle with the cast and crew while enjoying refreshments. Tickets to the opening night reception are sold separately.

Death of a Salesman will continue November 5 - 27 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. As always, Sunday performances are "pay what you will". Student matinees of the performance are also available for educational groups to bookNovember 8, 9, 15, and 17. It's late at the Loman family house, but no one is sleeping. Tired yet restless, Willy Loman has come home unexpectedly from a business trip to the great concern of his wife and two sons. Willy's mind has been wandering, bouncing back and forth between his seemingly glorious past, and his very troubled present. Something isn't right. Over the next day the Loman family will struggle with demons from the past, prospects, success, failure, and, ultimately, the truth. Winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1949, Arthur Miller's indelible classic about the American Dream, income inequality, mental illness, and identity is just as relevant today as it was when it profoundly shaped the course of American theatre over 70 years ago.

Director and Associate Artistic Director Thomas Weaver says Death of a Salesman "has profoundly resonated with audiences for decades, and probably has more to say to our culture now than it ever did. Even though the title tells you how it ends, the journey getting there is riveting in the hands of this wonderfully talented cast which features J. Clark Nicholson, Sharia Benn, Sean Adams, and Aaron Bomar just to name a few. This is an experience not to be missed."
