The Los Angeles Philharmonic joins forces with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela in TchaikovskyFest - an exploration of Tchaikovsky, led by Gustavo Dudamel, including performances of the six symphonies and selected tone poems; and significant community and education events with Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA), including the TAKE A STAND symposium, which will examine best practices, lessons learned and future directions of music education. Evident during the monumental Mahler Project, presented during the 2011/12 season, the relationship between the LA Phil and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela is a partnership that transcends limitation and truly epitomizes unity through music. TchaikovskyFest culminates in a joint performance of the two orchestras on March 2 at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

"It is always a joy to bring the LA Phil and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela together," says Gustavo Dudamel. "They are my musical families, and over the years, we have become one family. With our continuing adventurous collaborations, something very special happens when we are together. It is almost as if the music becomes more alive, more powerful."

"The Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela is a true inspiration and symbol of possibility," says Deborah Borda, President & CEO, Los Angeles Philharmonic. "We welcome them back to Los Angeles with high anticipation, and are delighted to work so closely with such exceptional and passionate musicians in a partnership that extends beyond borders, and proves the power of music knows no bounds."
