GMA Grows by Double-Digits Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date in Total Viewers

ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked as the No. 1 morning program in Total Viewers (6.056 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.452 million) for the week of January 20, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" beat NBC's "Today" (5.340 million and 2.230 million, respectively) during the week by 716,000 million Total Viewers and by 222,000 Adults 25-54. "GMA" widened its leads over NBC's "Today" versus its year-ago leads (+661,000 and +17,000, respectively, on w/o 1/21/13). Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached almost 20 million users last month.

"GMA" has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for more than 18 months (the last 75 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12). "GMA's" 75-consecutive weeks at the top represent its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 22 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started in September 1991. Among Adults 25-54, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 in in 17 of the 18 weeks of the season.

On Friday (1/20/14), "GMA" scored its best single-day telecast of the season in both Total Viewers (6.486 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.631 million). In fact, it was GMA's most-watched telecast in nearly 1 year - since 2/20/13. In Adults 25-54, it was its best news demo delivery in nearly 3 years (since 4/29/11 - the royal wedding) and 2nd-best in more than 5 years (since 11/5/08). Further, "GMA" beat "Today" by 513,000 Adults 25-54 (2.631 million vs. 2.118 million) on Friday to post its largest single-day news demo advantage over the NBC program in 19 years - since 1/30/95, based on regular telecasts.

"GMA" improved week to week (5.724 million, 2.310 million and 1.569 million, respectively, on w/o 1/13/14) in Total Viewers (+6%), Adults 25-54 (+6%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%). In fact, "GMA" delivered its strongest Adults 25-54 performance in nearly 8 years - since w/o 3/13/06.

For the 4th week in a row, "GMA" built on the year-ago week (5.529 million, 2.105 million and 1.555 million, respectively, on w/o 1/21/13) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+10%), Adults 25-54 (+16%) and Adults 18-49 (+8%). In addition, "GMA" improved the most on the year-ago week in Adults 25-54 (+16%; +347,000) compared to "CBS This Morning" (flat; +1,000) and NBC's "Today" (+7%; +142,000). In fact, "GMA's" year-to-year Adults 25-54 increase (+347,000) more than doubled (+143%) the combined year-to-year news demo increase (+143,000) of both CBS (+1,000) and NBC (+142,000).

Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd-straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 743,000 Total Viewers and 106,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" has widened its season margins over "Today" versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 45% (743,000 vs. 512,000) and in Adults 25-54 by 51% (106,000 vs. 70,000). Further, "GMA" is posting its largest Total Viewer season margin in more than 22 years and biggest in Adults 25-54 in 22 years- since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991) and the 1991-92 season, respectively.

Growing for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" is up by double-digits over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%). In fact, "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 8 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 2005-06 seasons, respectively. Further, "GMA" is up the most in Adults 25-54 compared to "CBS This Morning" (+3%) and NBC's "Today" (+11%)

During the week, "GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+85%), while leading the CBS program by triple-digits in Adults 25-54 (+119%) and Adults 18-49 (+113%). In addition, "GMA" led "CBS This Morning" by its largest news demo advantage (+1.334 million) in more than 7 years - since w/o 9/26/05.
