One of the most highly anticipated shows of the season, LAZARUS, is already causing quite a stir, and now more information has been revealed about David Bowie's new musical.

In a recent article by The New York Times, more information was given about Lazarus and the making of it. The new show begins previews on November 18 and has already had a new block of tickets added after selling out rapidly. David Bowie has composed several original songs and revamped some old one for this new show.

Irish playwright, Enda Walsh told The New York Times, "This is really my territory... I understand that isolated, lonely, broken, unstable sort of character." He also added, "The piece is broken and fractured; the information comes late. You don't know what you're watching for about 40 minutes or so." He hopes the audience will connect the piece on "an emotional level."

Mr. Walsh also spoke about the piece as a whole, adding: "For some audiences, it will break their hearts to see that man go where he has to go... In a way we just want him to find rest, we want him to find a proper death, a proper release, whatever that is."

The incredible cast, consisting of Michale C. Hall, Cristin Milioti and Michael Esper, is not only jazzed to work with David Bowie's music, but they also are loving working with Enda Walsh's words. Hall told NYT, "The script will continue to reveal itself to us in ways that will be surprising." Cristin Milioti also added, "That's one of the secrets of his writing - it creeps up on you."

The cast of Lazarus includes Golden Globe winner and six-time Emmy nominee Michael C. Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, "Dexter") as Thomas Newton, Tony Award nominee Cristin Milioti (Once) as Elly, and Michael Esper (The Last Ship) as Valentine, as well as Krystina Alabado (American Idiot), Sophia Anne Caruso (The Nether), Nicholas Christopher (Whorl Inside A Loop), Lynn Craig (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Bobby Moreno (Year of the Rooster), Krista Pioppi (Spring Awakening Nat'l Tour), Charlie Pollock (The Wild Party), and Brynn Williams (Bye Bye Birdie).

Following his revelatory production of Ingmar Bergman's Scenes from a Marriage, the internationally acclaimed director Ivo van Hove returns to New York Theatre Workshop with Lazarus. Mr. Walsh makes his return to NYTW after the successful run of Once. LAZARUS features songs specially composed by Mr. Bowie for this production as well as new arrangements of previously recorded songs.
