On Wednesday, three time Tony Award nominee, Craig Lucas took to the SOUSATZKA THE MUSICAL Official Facebook to talk about what attracted him to the project.

In the Facebook post he writes: "The fact that Sousatzka concerns political exiles, people who are uprooted and forced to re-create their lives in a new world, struck me as being a brave subject for a musical. Whenever there are wars, wherever there is civil discord, people are displaced. How these people find the strength and courage to reshape their lives and how they contend with the fear and ignorance of so many more privileged peoples on foreign terrain is an inspiration."

He went on to say, "One of the remarkable things about Maltby & Shire's score for Sousatzka is that it is like no other, and has benefited from the involvement of an international array of musicians, arrangers, orchestrators, interpreters. I don't believe anything like it has ever been attempted much less realized so elegantly and subtly."
