Complete Works Project to Host Opening Gala at PCS, 4/26

The Complete Works Project (CWP) today announced that it will hold its opening gala on April 26 from 4-7 p.m. at Portland Center Stage (PCS) in Portland, Ore. Free and open to the public, the event kicks off the ambitious goal of the project which is to produce - in collaboration with numerous performing arts companies, educators, and more - the entirety of William Shakespeare's works in the greater Portland area in two years' time.

Hosted in partnership with PCS, the gala is both a fundraising and informational event. The evening will feature highlights from local productions of Shakespeare's plays that are currently running, as well as previews and announcements of upcoming shows. Additionally, attendees will receive exclusive coupon codes from PCS for discounts on shows in Portland. Members from local performing arts companies currently involved with the CWP will be on hand to celebrate the Bard's 450th birthday as well as launch the two-year event, never before attempted in the United States.

"We're very excited to get the project underway," said Grant Turner, artistic director of Northwest Classical Theatre Company and project organizer of CWP. "Portland's artistic community and the city itself have a great passion for Shakespeare's work, and we can think of no better way to showcase the work of the greatest playwright in history and one of the world's most creative cities."
