Christopher Gattelli Will Helm NYC Developmental Lab of TOP HAT with New Book by Chad Beguelin

According to an Equity casting notice, Tony winner Christopher Gattelli is set to helm an upcoming NYC developmental lab of Top Hat. This version of the show features the classic music and lyrics of Irving Berlin and a new book by Chad Beguelin. The lab is set to be held May 18 through June 19.

Tom Chambers and Summer Strallen led the West End production as Jerry Travers and Dale Tremont, which opened on May 9, 2012 at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End. The show is currently on tour in the UK.

The West End version was directed by Matthew White and choreographed by Bill Deamer, set designs were by Hildegard Bechtler, costume designs by Jon Morrell, lighting design by Peter Mumford, sound by Gareth Owen, new orchestrations by Chris Walker, musical supervision by Richard Balcombe and musical direction by Daniel Jackson.

Packed full of Irving Berlin's greatest hits including, Cheek to Cheek, Top Hat, White Tie & Tails, Let's Face the Music & Dance and Puttin' on the Ritz, Top Hat tells the story of Broadway sensation Jerry Travers who dances his way across Europe to win the heart of society girl Dale Tremont. An uplifting and hilarious romantic comedy celebrating 1930s song, style and romance, Top Hat dazzles with over 200 beautiful costumes, breathtaking dance and a love story that will set the pulse racing!
