And a Happy Birthday shout-out to Julie Taymor, who turns 64 today!

Stage and screen director Julie Taymor is best known for helming Broadway's THE LION KING, for which she became the first woman to win the Tony Award for directing a musical, as well as a Tony and a Drama Desk Award for costume design. She also directed the infamous SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, as well as THE GREEN BIRD and JUAN DARIEN on Broadway; the latter earned her Tony and Drama Desk nominations in 1997. Taymor recently directed Anne Hathaway in GROUNDED Off-Broadway. Her Off-Broadway productions of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, TITUS ANDRONICUS and THE TEMPEST were later adapted for the big screen. Taymor's other film directing credits include ACROSS THE UNIVERSE and FRIDA.
