December 16, 2010 - February 19, 2011, Opening reception: December 16, 6 - 8 PM

The Flomenhafts are proud to salute the women represented by our gallery in an exciting exhibit. Artists included are Emma Amos, Joan Barber, Siona Benjamin, Beverly Buchanan, Amy Ernst, ElLen Frank, Mira Lehr, Dina Recanati, Faith Ringgold, Miriam Schapiro, Juane Quick-to-See Smith, Linda Stein, Flo Oy Wong and Estelle Yarinsky.
During the week of the College Art Association conference in New York, The Institute for Women and Art and the Feminist Art Project will host a reception at the gallery featuring conversations with several of the artists whose works are on view. It will take place on February 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Conversations will take place from 6:30 - 7:30. Feminism, diversity, and globalism will be discussed from the perspective of these nationally and internationally recognized contemporary artists.

The artists will be well equipped to discuss all of the above subjects and can easily refer to the exhibit for demonstration. This is a most extraordinary group of women, beginning with Miriam Schapiro who was at the forefront of the feminist movement and a most important advocate for women's self esteem. She raised the level of perception for the arts, by incorporating feminine crafts and decorative materials, collage and narrative expression. Her influence can be felt throughout the show.
