Betsy Wolfe and Adam Kantor to Reprise Roles in THE LAST FIVE YEARS at A.C.T. This March

By:
American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) is thrilled to present Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown's (Parade, Honeymoon in Vegas, The Bridges of Madison County) powerful and intimate musical, The Last Five Years, for a special concert presentation on Friday, March 27 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, March 28 (2 p.m. and 8 p.m.).

Starring Betsy Wolfe (Bullets Over Broadway and The Mystery of Edwin Drood on Broadway; Tales of the City at A.C.T.) and Adam Kantor (RENT and Next to Normal on Broadway; Avenue Q off Broadway)--who both performed in the critically acclaimed 2013 off-Broadway revival at New York's Second Stage Theatre--The Last Five Years tells the powerful story of Cathy and Jamie, two twenty-something New Yorkers who dive headfirst into a marriage fueled by the optimism that comes from finding "the one."

But in a city where professional and personal passions collide and only the strongest relationships survive, navigating the waters of love and matrimony can sometimes prove to be too much. Sung from their individual points of view, Cathy's journey is told from ending to beginning, and Jamie's from beginning to end. Funny, honest, and intimate, and with an exuberantly romantic score, The Last Five Years takes a bold look at one young couple's hope that love endures the test of time.

Tickets for The Last Five Years (ranging from $35-$75) are available at the A.C.T. Box Office at 415.749.2228 or online at www.act-sf.org. VIP tickets ($250) are available for the Saturday evening performance and include complimentary preshow champagne and a special postshow dessert reception with the cast. A.C.T. subscribers receive $10 off ticket prices. Presale tickets are available now for A.C.T. season subscribers. Tickets are available for the general public beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 17.

"What a joy to bring the incredible Betsy Wolfe back to A.C.T. after her indelible performance as Mary Ann in Tales of the City, and to pair her with Adam Kantor in Jason Robert Brown's beautiful and heartbreaking love story," says A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff. "We're thrilled to have the chance to offer this unique opportunity to Bay Area audiences."

"I am so excited to be returning to American Conservatory Theater for this special two-night concert presentation of Jason Robert Brown's brilliant masterpiece," says Wolfe. "Adam and I have performed this show in various venues throughout the United States and we look forward to bringing it to the beautiful Geary Theater!"

A.C.T.'s 2014-15 season continues with the sumptuous jazz-filled production, Let There Be Love; the West Coast premiere of Caryl Churchill's internationally acclaimed new work, Love and Information; and Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's most rapturous and seductive musical, A Little Night Music.
