Bach Festival Society's Weilerstein/Barnatan Concert Program to Feature Debussy, Schubert, & More, 3/30

Tampa, FL -- The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park is pleased to announce the program for its March 30, 2014, concert. Included on the program are Claude Debussy: Sonata for Cello and Piano; Franz Schubert: Fantasia in C Major, D. 934 (Op. 159); Lera Auerbach: Selections from 24 Preludes (after Shostakovich 24 Preludes, Op. 34); and Sergei Rachmaninoff: Sonata in G minor, Op. 19.

American cellist Alisa Weilerstein has attracted widespread attention worldwide for playing that combines a natural virtuosic command and technical precision with impassioned musicianship. Pianist Inon Barnatan is widely recognized for refined, communicative, insightful playing that combines an extraordinary depth of musicianship and an impeccable, virtuosic technique.

Alisa Weilerstein and Inon Barnatan performed as soloists with The Academy of St Martin in the Fields chamber orchestra during the Bach Festival's 2012-13 season.

Ms. Weilerstein has appeared with all of the major orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. Her 2013-14 season includes engagements across Europe and the United States. Ms. Weilerstein is artist-in-residence with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

One of today's most exciting and compelling artists, Israeli pianist Inon Barnatan has recently been appointed New York Philharmonic's first Artist-in-Association. He will perform multiple times with the orchestra over several seasons, beginning with his subscription debut playing Ravel's Concerto in G with Alan Gilbert during the 2014-15 season.

The concert will take place Sunday, March 30 at 3:00 pm at Tiedtke Concert Hall (Rollins College 1000 Holt Avenue Winter Park, FL).
