Broadway and Television's "tight little ball of spunk, bad ass and class," Haviland Stillwell will celebrate the release of her album, HOW i ROLE, in her debut(ante) concert at Joe's Pub in New York City on September 12, 2010 at 7:30pm. Broadway audiences know Stillwell as an original cast member in the revivals of LES MISERABLES and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. TV and film work includes the recent feature Lifetime movie THE CLIENT LIST (Lifetime, with Jennifer Love Hewitt), EASTWICK, SIX DEGREES, NOW AND THEN and BELOW THE BELTWAY.

We checked in with Stillwell about her concert (for which only a few tickets remain so get them NOW at JoesPub.com) and upcoming album release:

New York audiences have been missing you for a while since you've been in LA as of late - what have you been up to?
I've jumped into their televisions! I've been doing mostly TV, film and webseries since moving to LALA Land. The first thing was the ABC show EASTWICK, and the most recent movie was Lifetime's THE CLIENT LIST with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Cybill Shepard. We had a blast, and I went full Texas in that one. I have more things coming out, a couple of great films and shows in the works...and also, I'm really loving LA, and the freedom going back and forth lends itself. It's been a excellent time.

Will you be singing all songs from the album or any other treats?
Oh, all KINDS of treats! All the songs from the album will be performed, and we even have all but one of the instrumentalists who played on HOW I ROLE up there jamming. And then of course we had to throw in a Steven Jamail original, since he is my amazing MD, and a couple other fun ones.

The album (and assumingly the concert) show off the many eclectic sides to your personality, talent and taste how did you go about picking the material for both?
I live intergalactically, and so that's how i sing - it's literally how i role! HA! What that means is that I cross through genre, through labels, because I believe we're all already doing that in our lives. So, why not go all out and make music that way, too? My experience, especially as of late, is that we are all extremely connected, and the music I sing represents that connectivity.

Theatre fans will all be descending on Times Square on Sunday morning for Broadway on Broadway and then many catching matinees, tell us why coming down to Joe's Pub is the perfect way to cap it all off?
We are doing some great musical theatre tunes - a song from NINE, a "gidget" version of "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend" and of course, some of the ones I do often - but what makes this set so fun is that every song is theatrical. Everything is dramatic, because life is dramatic. Come to Joe's and let's all galactivate together. And also...I can pretty much guarantee the best costume of the day.

And for those not in New York, are you planning future concerts in LA and elsewhere?
Absolutely! I will definitely do one in LA soon, and I'd love to play Atlanta, London, and other places...I will be making the rounds in due time.

An authentic Georgia peach, Stillwell was born in Savannah and graduated from The Paideia School in Atlanta before moving to NYC and graduating with honors from NYU. Now based in Los Angeles, she regularly performs concerts there including LA hotspots Eleven, Upright Cabaret, and Show at Barre. She also performed with Rosie O'Donnell for r family cruises, hosted the broadwayworld.com show FLIRT, a webseries with Riese from autostraddle.com, and an abundant list of fun things happening that she can't even talk about...YET. She is also a writer, teacher, activist, and advice giver, and you can read all about it on her website http://www.havilandstillwell.com and by following her on Twitter, @MissHaviland.

The album HOW I ROLE, produced and mixed by Michael Croiter and music directed, orchestrated, and arranged by Steven Jamail, is an Intergalactic Glam Pop frolic through seemingly different musical genres, using universal themes and the velvety chameleon voice of The Haviland (not to be confused with De Havilland) to remind us all of the reality of connectivity. This is abstract (if you want to go there)... and it's also a really accessible, fun set of music, most of which you have definitely heard before - just not this way! The set will also feature a surprise guest performance, original songs by Kristy Hanson and Diane Warren and covers of Heart, Lady Gaga, John Mellancamp, Bette MidlerLeonard BernsteinDolly PartonDiana RossGladys Knight, and Marilyn Monroe.
