Acclaimed musical director and performer Ben Stock has recently released his debut album, featuring musical numbers that have shaped his career thus far. Jerry Herman, Cole Porter, Noel Coward and Meredith Wilson are just a few of the composers whose work is celebrated on this CD. The order of songs tell a wonderful story and are delivered by one very talented man and his piano.

Stock has an extensive list of credits in musical theatre and has taken on many roles in West End and major UK touring productions. His experience is reflected in his vocal and musical abilities and all arrangements have been compiled himself.

'Wanna Sing A Showtune' by Ray Jessel is a superb opening number with an array of popular and recognisable musical orchestrations featured. Stock provides bounds of personality along with plenty of light and shade throughout. The medleys of songs are very cleverly combined with smooth segues; the 'Dreaming' medley has real hope and aspiration underlying.

'Mrs Worthington' and 'Tattooed Lady' require an element of further delivery and his characterisation in these numbers really shines through the lyrics. The 'Favourites' medley is the most poignant for me on a personal note and his love of the number is apparent.

Stock has a very soft and gentle tone to his voice but ultimately knows when to use crescendos and diminuendos to dramatic advantage. The 11-track album is easy to listen to and I wish Ben all the best with the release of his CD.
