BWW Preview: THE SAVANNAH SIPPING SOCIETY at Old Opera House

Directed by Steven Brewer and debuting on the Old Opera House stage, The Savannah Sipping Society is a hysterical and sentimental show about the relationship between four women, formed over an impromptu happy hour.

In The Savannah Sipping Society, four Southern women need a change from their boring daily routines. Unexpectedly thrown together by "fate" (i.e. Happy Hour), the four women provide plenty of laughter and help each other overcome personal issues while boosting each others confidence. From marriage and career troubles to overall advice, over the course of six months, the four middle aged women realize it's never too late to make friends and live in the moment..... accompanied by some adult refreshments!

Mirroring the close relationship of the four female characters onstage, the four actresses quickly became very good friends offstage in real life.

"This has been a very tight group from the beginning. Everyone is just so happy to be there and we have been each others support throughout the rehearsal process. We simply can't wait to get to rehearsal to hang out with each other!" said Amy Hebb, who plays Marlafaye.

"The women in this show are amazing! I love working with them so much. We have great chemistry on stage and genuinely enjoy each others company. It's been a joy to work with them" said Denise O'Brien, who plays Jinx. "I've enjoyed working with this incredibly talented cast and director" said Linda Romero, who plays Dot

"While working with the other amazing women in this cast, we clicked immediately. We met on a Tuesday night to audition and come to find out, all four of us were thinking the same thing: "That was amazing!" These women have quickly come to mean the world to me. They are wonderfully talented and I adore every single one!" said Shannon Spears, who plays Randa.

Though close relationships quickly formed, there were still some challenges in this comedy.

"With the physical comedy aspects of the show, there are several moments that require precise timing, and those are the moments that most often can go off the rails" said Hebb.

"The biggest challenge for me is the comedic timing. I have done mostly dramatic plays, so the timing with this character is difficult. Randa is a little more reserved than the other three characters, so when she finally does deliver a zinger, it has to be just right" said Spears.

The ladies of The Savannah Sipping Society cannot wait to present this hilarious and heartfelt show to an audience.

"This show is funny! But more than that, it is touching, endearing and inspirational. It also has a familiar feeling to it; everyone in the audience will know one of these characters in real life" said Hebb.

"It is so relatable, especially for women, dealing with the challenges of middle age and beyond. It is also very upbeat and quite funny" said Romero.

"There will be people that can relate to every single one of these women. It is a fun and enjoyable show that gives some good old fashioned belly laughs. It's a real feel good show!" said Spears "This show is so much fun!! I think audiences will enjoy the wonderful characters and the humor they all bring to the show. It's wonderful to watch their journey and see them begin to experience the fun in life again" said O'Brien.

The Savannah Sipping Society also features Tonja Hirst as Granny Covington. The Savannah Sipping Society runs Friday, March 10 at 8:00 PM, Saturday, March 11 at 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 12 at 2:30 PM, Friday, March 17 at 8:00 PM, Saturday, March 18 at 8:00 PM and Sunday March 19 at 2:30 PM at the Old Opera House, 204 N.
