According to a report by Whatsonstage.com, the upcoming West End production of Betty Blue Eyes will open at the Novello Theatre for Spring 2011.  The show, which is to be produced by Cameron Mackintosh will feature Sarah Lancashire and Reece Shearsmith, with direction by Richard Eyre. Additional details concerning casting and production dates have not yet been announced.

Like the film from which it is based, the musical will be set in post-war England tells the story of a small town organising a street party to celebrate the nuptials of Princess Elizabeth and Philip. However, rationing is in effect and people are forced to hide the porker despite it's being the centrepiece of the feast.

The show includes a book by Ron Cowen and Dan Lipman and music and lyrics by and Stiles and Drewe.

Petty Blue Eyes will begin rehearsals in early 2011, play the West Yorkshire Playhouse for a four-week run and then transfer into one of his West End theatres around Easter of that year. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is kicks-off the following year.
