Argus Quartet Makes New York Recital Debut At Weill Recital Hall

The Argus Quartet, Co-First Prize Winner of the 2017 CAG Competition, will make its Weill Recital Hall debut on Tuesday, November 13 at 7:30pm. The ensemble performs its trademark blend of masterworks by Haydn and Janácek alongside music by contemporary composers Ted Hearne, Juri Seo, and Christopher Theofanidis.

Full program:

Haydn: String Quartet in B minor, Op. 33 No. 1

Juri Seo: Respiri - in Memoriam Jonathan Harvey

Christopher Theofanidis: Visions and Miracles
Ted Hearne: Overlay (For David Lang)
Janácek: String Quartet No. 2, "Intimate Letters"

The Argus Quartet has quickly emerged as one of today's most dynamic and versatile young ensembles, winning First Prize at both the 2017 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition and the 2017 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition. As the current Graduate Resident String Quartet at The Juilliard School, Argus is dedicated to reinvigorating the audience-performer relationship through innovative concerts and diverse programming. In that spirit, the ensemble's repertoire includes not only masterworks of the chamber music canon, but also a wide range of pieces by living composers.
