Plymouth's Spire Center for Performing Arts presents a gala opening series Celebrity Benefit Concert featuring nationally renowned baritone Andrew Garland and legendary pianist Warren Jones on Friday, May 16, 7:30 pm at 25 ½ Court Street, Plymouth. The concert is a featured event in their 2-month long opening celebration of concerts, performances and Plymouth's first ever Plymouth Rock Assurance Jazz Festival.

First produced as part of Carnegie Hall's Neighborhood Concert series, the Celebrity Benefit Concert program is a regional premiere. Locally grown, baritone Andrew Garland performs with pianist Warren Jones featuring a diverse program of works including Ralph Vaughn Willams' Songs of Travel, eclectic selections by Franz Schubert, Ravel's Don Quichotte à Dulcinée, Steven Mark Kohns selections from American Folk Set, and Mitch Leigh's The Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha.

Widely acclaimed for sparkling, exhilarating performances, Andrew Garland launched his career as a student locally from Kingston, successfully rising to highly regarded national acclaim today. Equally at home in opera, concert and recital, Garland brings to each genre a powerful voice and extremely sensitive delivery. He has been saluted by The New York Times as having a "distinctly American presence" with a "big voice" who is "an able and comfortable performer, and a sincere one." He has been heard in opera performances and concert halls across the country in title roles to beloved works, including appearances at Boston Lyric Opera, Chorus Pro Musica, Hawaii Opera Theatre, Seattle Opera, Knoxville Opera, Colorado Bach Ensemble, Boston Baroque, New York City Opera and more. Last year, he released his fourth CD, critically acclaimed American Portraits with pianist Donna Loewy.

Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as "the single finest accompanist now working," pianist Warren Jones is a renowned performer, prominent teacher, collaborative pianist, and chamber musician, performing in concerts festivals around the world. Jones has been an invited guest at the White House to perform for state dinners in honor of the leaders of Canada, Russia, and Italy. His discography contains 29 recordings on every major label - and his newest musical ventures include conducting, having led sold-out critically-acclaimed performances of Mascagni's L'amico Fritz, Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Mozart's Die Zauberfloete.

Tickets for the Celebrity Benefit Concert are $40. Advance ticket purchases are recommended, seating is limited due to capacity. Proceeds support the Spire Center for Performing Arts operating expenses. Individual and corporate sponsorships are also available, benefits include ticketing privileges and more. The Spire is handicap accessible, public parking is available streetside, and in public lots in close proximity.
