In the film, Adams' character, after witnessing the murder of her family at the age of 7 and testifying against her brother, is approached 25 years later by the "Kill Club," a secret detective society hoping to discover details of the crime.

Adams also stars in Walter Salles' On the Road, which is set to play at Cannes. Adams will star this summer as The Baker's Wife in The Public Theater's Into the Woods in Central Park, which is in talks for a Broadway transfer. Production on Dark Places will begin after Into the Woods' initial run.
