A fascinating and quite astonishing look behind the scenes at the creation of the Chichester Festival's new theatrical facility, Theatre In The Park, current home of the new revival of BARNUM, has been unveiled.

In the one-minute distillation video of the major architectural accomplishment, time-lapse photography captures the building of the entire amphitheater all the way from empty lawn to fully-functional, state-of-the-art theater in only eight days.

A theater fit for a Cameron Mackintosh production, no less!

BARNUM marks the very first production in the new hi-tech open-air auditorium, making it a major event for the hallowed Chichester Festival Theatre to host - to say nothing of the pedigree of talent involved, particularly as headed by uber producer Mackintosh.

While the inaugural production at the theatre is the circus-themed musical revival of BARNUM and not a brand new musical, it is largely a new take on the material - featuring a vastly reworked version of the Cy Coleman/Michael Stewart/Mark Bramble musical, including new songs.

The new production of BARNUM stars Christopher Fitzgerald as PT Barnum alongside Tamsin Carroll as his wife, Chairy. Additional casting includes Areth Ayeh, Anna O'Byrne and Jack North as well as a company consisting of Rachael Archer, Jacquie Biggs, Nick Butcher, Sophie Camble, Jon-Scott Clark, Leon Cooke, Stefan Dermendjiev, Faith-Louise Francis, Chris Gage, A C Garcia, Trina Hill, Jack Horner, Erin Jameson, Jasmine Kerr, Mitch Leow, James O'Connell, Michaela O'Connor, Max Parker, Tom Scanlon, Lucie-Mae Sumner and Robert Tregoning. It is directed by Timothy Sheader and Liam Steel from a new vision for the piece spearheaded by Mackintosh and musical director William Brohn.

BARNUM plays July 15 through August 31 at Chichester Festival's Theatre In The Park.
