In a new interview with ET, Amanda Seyfried discusses her upcoming theatrical debut in playwright Neil LaBute's off Broadway production of THE WAY WE GET BY. The actress admits she occasionally suffers from stage fright when it comes to appearing in front of a live audience. "It was one of those things I kept putting off because I was scared shitless," she reveals, adding that her upcoming debut on April 28th, "makes me nervous to even think about it."

Despite the huge success of her singing appearances in films such as LES MISERABLES and MAMMA MIA!, Seyfried shared that she has no interest in appearing on stage in a musical. "I love to sing--but not for work," she explains. "Unless it's a movie where you can put it all down in the recording studio and then forget about it."

However, the actress does admit that the idea of taking on the role of Glinda in a film adaptation of Broadway's long-running hit WICKED is something she's had her eye on for quite some time. In fact, her focus on that film led to her passing up the opportunity to audition for last year's INTO THE WOODS movie, featuring her MAMMA MIA! co-star Meryl Streep.

"I was working on 'On the Steps of the Palace' with my voice coach," she says of the number performed by Cinderella in the Sondheim classic. "I remember one day I was singing it and I was like, 'No. I can't. I can't do it--I can't get it. This is so hard. I'm not auditioning for it.'" In the end, Anna Kendrick was cast in the iconic role.

While reports of a big screen adaptation of WICKED have been around for several years now (and no firm schedule or release date set), Seyfried fears she may be too old for her dream role by the time the project actually comes to fruition. "I might be too old when they make it. Or if they make it sooner than later, maybe I'm not the right person," Seyfried admits. "I just still--I want it. I want to present myself and be a good candidate."

Seyfried will co-star in the upcoming TED 2, the sequel to Universal Pictures' hit film with Mark Wahlbergand Seth MacFarlane, which will be released in theaters on June 26, 2015. She also appears in NOAH Baumbach's upcoming independent feature, While We're Young, with Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts and Adam Driver, opening on March 27, 2015. This summer she will also appear in Joe Wright's Pan for Warner Bros, an origin story of Peter Pan with Hugh Jackman. She recently filmed the lead role in the independent feature, Fathers and Daughters, with Russell Crowe and Aaron Paul. She appeared in the Universal comedy, A Million Ways To Die in the West, opposite Seth MacFarlane and Charlize Theron, and also voiced the lead in Twentieth Century Fox's animated Epic. She starred as Linda LOVELACE in the Radius TWC's biopic, Lovelace, which premiered at Sundance and for which she received rave reviews.

Amanda has appeared as Cosette in the film adaptation of Les Miserables and previously appeared in Mamma Mia! with Meryl Streep. Other film credits include Mean Girls; Diablo Cody's horror comedy, Jennifer's Body, with Megan Fox; the thriller Chloe opposite Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson; Nicholas Sparks' Dear John withChanning Tatum; and the romantic dramedy Letters to Juliet with Vanessa Redgrave. Her television career took off on HBO's critically acclaim "Big Love" with Bill Paxton, Chloe Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin, as well as a memorable turn in cult favorite "Veronica Mars" as the series' catalyst.

Seyfriend will make her off- Broadway debut opposite Thomas Sadoski in the upcoming world premiere production of NEIL LaBUTE's drama, THE WAY WE GET BY. Directed by Tony nominee LEIGH SILVERMAN, the production will begin previews on April 28, 2015 and officially open on May 20, 2015 at Second Stage Theatre, 305 West 43rd Street.

The two-character play will star Seyfried and Sadoski as Beth and Doug: two people who have no problems getting dates with their partners of choice. What they do have, however, is a very awkward encounter after spending one hot night together following a drunken wedding reception they attend. They wake up to a blurry morning where the rules of attraction, sex and society are waiting for them before their first cup of coffee, leading them to ponder how much they really know about each other and how much they really care about what other people think. A world premiere from one of our most provocative storytellers, THE WAY WE GET BY is a play about love and lust and the whole damn thing.
