Actress and activist, Tahirah Stanley has a busy season ahead of her.

Her film, "Do The Most," a short film about inner city youths who have nowhere to go but down, opens by the end of September, while "Real," a full-length feature film will be running before end-of-2016. She will also appear on stage in "Behind the Silent Bars" before December as well.

She is hoping the powerful subject matter of her multiple openings can help her generate attention for her own organization, Theatre for Peace.

Theatre for Peace is a program that gives young people an opportunity to explore themselves and help them break free of inner fears, shyness, and intimidates that come with life. As a child, Ms. Stanley was painfully shy. Acting allowed her to conquer her own intimidations and live a more joyous existence.

Theatre for Peace uses the performing arts (singing, dancing, acting and spoken word) as a tool to help young people gain confidence and skills necessary to fully express themselves, in a positive manner. Over the course of three months 8-10 young people, ages 14-18, meet twice a week for performance workshops. They work with professional artists to develop songs, monologues, dances, poems etc., based on their experiences as young people. At the end of the three months their work is put together to create a final performance that is shared with the community.

Ms. Stanley hopes for more opportunities to help young people and more poejects that can serve as positives examples - or cautionary tales.
