The Actors' Equity Foundation has established a scholarship award for a graduating high school student who demonstrates excellence in the arts. The scholarship will be awarded to a student at the New York City FIORELLO H. LAGUARDIA HIGH SCHOOL OF MUSIC ART AND PERFORMING ARTS.

The inaugural recipient is Natahnya Alexander. Selected by a panel of teachers headed by Department Chair Sandra Faison who said "Nathanya is talented, kind, of outstanding character and we all immediately voted for Nathanya Alexander. She is a lovely actress. And you all have done a wonderful thing!"

Nathanya's plans for the future include auditioning while also attending Borough of Manhattan Community College in the fall. "I need a Plan B - so I will be studying computer science while still looking to fulfill my dream of being a working actor here in New York."

Established in 1962, the Actors' Equity Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, exists to support the professional theatre community, from emerging artists to seasoned vets, while promoting and investing in theatre and the performing arts. We are committed to the future of theatre, and believe students are the future.
