Anchorage Opera will present SOUTH PACIFIC April 1, 2011 - April 10, 2011.

Music for SOUTH PACIFIC is by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan.

SOUTH PACIFIC is adapted from the Pulitzer Prizewinning novel 'Tales of the South Pacific' by James A. Michener.

Considered one of the greatest musicals ever written, Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific has become a standard ‘cross over' musical production for numerous opera companies since its 1987 production by New York City Opera. Acclaimed young conductor, Kelly Kuo, will lead the AO orchestra. Top Alaskan director and actor, Shane Mitchell, will lead a spectacular cast of visiting and resident artists.
