State Theatre Company will welcome the irrepressible Miriam Margolyes back in 2015. After the hugely successful season of Neighbourhood Watch in 2014, Miriam - simply one of the greatest actresses in the world - joins us as part of the world premiere Australian tour of her one-woman show, The Importance of Being Miriam.

An award-winning star of stage and screen, Miriam Margolyes is renowned for her roles in the Harry Potter movies, Dickens' Women, Blackadder and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. In her latest production, Miriam brings some of literature's best known characters to life on stage - including Oscar Wilde's Lady Bracknell, The Rivals' Mrs Malaprop, Jane Austen's Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Great Expectations' Miss Havisham, and Mrs Corney and Mr Bumble from Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist.

Along with fascinating insights into Miriam's love of great literature and its characters, The Importance of Being Miriam will feature personal reflections from her rich and distinguished career and her new life as an Australian citizen. Miriam is joined by her regular collaborator, the acclaimed classical pianist John Martin, who last performed with Miriam in Dickens' Women. John will delight audiences with a selection of music - from classical to popular, music hall to the greatest piano works of all time.

Miriam is very excited about returning to Adelaide. She said: "In this daring, emotional and funny production, I'm doing something I've never done before: I'm going to engage directly with the audience; tell jokes sing, do bits of Dickens, bits of Shakespeare, read poems and explore my whole life with the Adelaide audience. I can't wait."

Miriam has just played a sold out season of I'll Eat You Last for Melbourne Theatre Company and is about to start shooting new episodes of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries
