Talented filmmaker Rob Marshall (CHICAGO, PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES) has taken the Tony® winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics, the big screen. The movie is produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, WICKED producer Marc Platt and Callum McDougall.

The stage show of INTO THE WOODS premiered on Broadway on November 5 1987 at the Martin Beck Theatre, and ran for 764 performances, winning Tony ® Awards for Best Score, Best Book and Best Actress in a Musical, 5 Drama Desk Awards and other awards. It has been produced around the world including a US Tour in 1988, a West End production in 1990 and Broadway and London Revivals, a television production, DVD recording and a 10 year anniversary concert.

For those unfamiliar with the work, INTO THE WOOD gives the well-known Brothers Grimm fairy tales that we heard as children, a modern twist, looking at them with grown up eyes. What happens if the stories all existed in the same space and were therefore interconnected? What happens when you want something? What happens when you get it?

Bringing together the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Repunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy) with the original story of The Baker and His Wife (James Corden and Emily Blunt) who wish to start a family and seek the assistance of the Witch (Meryl Streep), INTO THE WOODS is a humorous and heartfelt musical.
