It has been reported that the upcoming big-screen take on the classic cartoon, The Jetsons, has nabbed a director in Conrad Vernon.

Best known for his work on the hit adult comedy Sausage Party, and Dreamworks Monsters vs. Aliens, Shrek 2, Vernon has been brought on to develop the film in addition to his directing duties.

Produced by Hanna-Barbera, the original cartoon premiered in 1962 on ABC hot on the heels of another Hanna-Barbera success, The Flintstones. The upcoming remake won't be the Jetsons' first trip to the big screen however, as THE FAMILY appeared in their own animated feature in 1990.

The film had previously been considered for a live-action re-boot, but will stick to the space-age family's original animated format.
