Adelphi Orchestra presents Giuseppe Verdi's LA TRAVIATA in concert, under the direction of Maestro Jason C. Tramm May 7th

The Adelphi Orchestra presents a concert version of Giuseppe Verdi's timeless story of love and sacrifice "La Traviata" under the baton of noted opera conductor and Artistic Advisor Jason C. Tramm on Sunday May 7th at 3PM at River Dell River Dell High School, 55 Pyle Street in Oradell, New Jersey.

Based on the famed play La Dame aux Camélias adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, the concert version of the opera will feature three rising stars who continue to distinguish themselves as young artists, soprano Ashley Bell as Violetta Valéry, tenor Victory Starsky as Alfredo Germont and baritone Robert-Heepyoung, Oh as Giorgio Germont. The performance will also feature the magnificent voices of the Seton Hall's elite chamber choral performing ensemble, the Seton Hall University Choir.

Singing the role of the beautiful Violetta Valéry is soprano Ashley Bell. Ashley Bell has been performing from an early age, starting at age 9 as a member of the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus and making her Off-Broadway debut at 16 in the world premiere of the musical The Golden Touch. Ms. Bell is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University with distinction in Italian and International Studies and speaks five operatic languages fluently. She is a recipient of Yale's Browne Irish Performing Arts Award and of a Scholarship Award at the Crested Butte Music Festival. Ms. Bell was a participant in Renata Scotto's Opera Studio at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Ms. Bell has since performed as a soloist in the United States, Italy, Spain, France and Russia. Performances this past season have included Norina in Don Pasquale in Logroño, Spain, Violetta in La Traviata at the Bay Street Theatre, Fiordiligi and Donna Anna at the Narni Festival in Italy with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma, Isabella Colbran in the premiere of Discovering Mrs. Rossini at the new Sheen Center in NYC, and Musetta at the National Opera Center. Other recent performances include Beauty in Giannini's Beauty and the Beast, Mimi in La Bohème and Katrina in Legend of Sleepy Hollow with Di Capo Opera, the soprano soloist in the Italian Cultural Institute and the Basilica of St. Patrick Old Cathedral's commemoration of the 175th Anniversary of Lorenzo da Ponte, Dorothée in the U.S. premiere of Offenbach's La Bonne D'Enfant with Salome Chamber Orchestra, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with Teatro Lirico D'Europa and Opera New Hampshire, Adina in L'Elisir D'Amore in New York and Tuxedo Park, Violetta in La Traviata with the Hawthorne Symphony, Serpina in La Serva Padrona Off-Broadway and on tour in Arizona, and Molpe in Choreo Theatro's world premiere of the Odyssey at the 92nd Street Y.

In the role of Alfredo Germont, tenor Victor Starsky joins the Adelphi Orchestra and Maestro Tramm with stellar accolades following his 2015 performance in the role of Don José in Bizet's Carmen with New York Opera Exchange. Opera Today writes, "Victor Starsky's Don José is terrifying and compelling, with a voice that performs vocal acrobatics with strength and beauty that remains undiminished through his final line." Mr. Starsky has recently sung the roles of Tony in Opera North's production of "West Side Story", Gustav Mahler's "Das Lied Von Der Erde" with M. Peress in October of 2015, and made his solo debut in Carnegie Hall in November of 2016. His future engagements include Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata, Ferrando in Mozart's Così Fan Tutte, Lensky in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, an Italian Aria concert with the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestra Tong Chen, and a premier of "Song of Wandering Aengus" by Howard Lew, for tenor and orchestra, under Maestra Dorothy Savitch with Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra this spring. Mr. Starsky is a student of noted vocal instructor Andrea del Giudice.

As counterpoint to the star crossed lovers, baritone Robert-Heepyoung Oh performs the role of Alfredo's father, Gorgio Germont.

Verdi aficionados and Bergen County audiences were delighted by his recent performance in the title role of New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera's 2016 production of Rigoletto.

A graduate of SUNY Binghamton University (Master Degree) and a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Korea National University of Arts, Robert has distinguished himself with numerous awards, which include the Kwang-Ju International Voice Competition; winner, Korea Voice Competition; 2nd Prize winner, Bimok Voice Competition; 2nd Prize winner in Korea. In the U.S, his competition credits include the NATS Competition Rio Grande Chapter; Adult Division 1st Prize winner & Most Promising Singer Prize (2010), Fifth Lois Alba Aria Competition; 2nd Prize winner & Audience Choice Prize winner (2010), The Binghamton Harmony Club Adopted Artist (2011~2012 Season), NATS Competition Central New York Finger lakes Region; Advance Division 1st Prize (2012), Metropolitan International Voice Competition; Grand Prize winner (2013), NATS Competition Eastern region; Upper Advanced Division; 1st Prize winner (2013), George L. Hinman and Adele Bernstein Award (2013~2014 TCO season).

Frequently featured as a principal on the roster of New York state's Tri-Cities Opera, Mr. Oh's operatic roles include Tonio in I Pagliacci, Count di Luna in Il Trovatore, Speaker in Magic Flute, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor and the Registrar in Madama Butterfly. He has sung Elijah in Elijah, King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors for the Binghamton University and Bass soloist, Faure Requiem in Midsummer Dream Music Festival, Quebec in Canada. Robert-Heepyoung Oh 's oratorio solo appearances include Weber's Messe in G-dur, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Händel's Messiah and Beethoven's Symphony 9.

Leading the Adelphi Orchestra in La Traviata, Jason C. Tramm is a seasoned professional conductor and artistic director who is proud to be in his second season as Artistic Advisor/Conductor for the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra. His work in the operatic, symphonic and choral realms has received critical acclaim throughout the Unites States and abroad. Maestro Tramm serves as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the MidAtlantic Opera with whom he made his Carnegie Hall (Stern Auditorium) in 2015 with his critically acclaimed "Prayer for Peace" concert. He also serves as the Music Director/Principal Conductor of Teatro Lirico d'Europa, a touring professional opera company, with whom he will conduct Madama Butterfly (Puccini), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Rigoletto (Verdi) and Aida (Verdi) in the 2017-18 season in theaters in Florida, Illinois, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Massachusetts. He will also be returning this season as guest conductor for Opera New Hampshire (Manchester, New Hampshire) and Palmetto Opera (Columbia, South Carolina). Last season's tour repertoire included Turandot (Puccini), Madama Butterfly (Puccini), La Traviata (Verdi) and Carmen (Bizet).

An accomplished educator, Tramm serves on the faculty at Seton Hall University as Director of Choral Activities, where he leads the University Choir, Chamber Choir, Orchestra, and teaches voice and conducting. He is also actively sought as a clinician and regularly presents lectures. Dr. Tramm was named the 2017 University Faculty Teacher of the Year by Seton Hall University. He holds degrees in music from the Crane School, the Hartt School, and a DMA in Conducting from Rutgers University, where he was the recipient of their prestigious Presidential Fellowship. In 2003, he joined the ranks of Metropolitan Opera Stars Renee Fleming and Stephanie Blythe in being honored with the Rising Star Award from the SUNY Potsdam Alumni Association.

Currently in his 11th season as Director of Music, in Residence, of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, Tramm leads the choral, orchestral, and oratorio performances in the 6,500-seat historic Great Auditorium in the summer months. In addition to the historic Ocean Grove Choir Festival, the largest sacred music festival on the East Coast, Tramm conducts orchestral and sacred masterworks. He has appeared on two National Public Radio broadcasts with organ virtuoso Gordon Turk and a large orchestra. He is also the Music Director of the Morris Choral Society (Morristown, NJ), where he will present the New Jersey premiere of Karl Jenkin's "The Peacemakers" at the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts on May 20th on a program which will include Beethoven's Choral Fantasy with Roman Pianist, Cristiana Pegoraro. Tramm led the NJ State Opera as principal conductor and Artistic Director from 2008 to 2012, where he collaborated with some of the finest voices in opera, including Samuel Ramey, Vladimir Galouzine, Angela Brown, Gregg Baker, and Paul Plishka. His 2009 HDTV broadcast with PBS affiliate NJN of "Verdi Requiem: Live from Ocean Grove," garnered a regional Emmy Award nomination.

A frequent guest conductor, Jason Tramm has led operatic and symphonic performances in Italy, Romania, Albania, and Hungary, where he recorded an album of rarely heard French operatic arias with the Szeged Symphony. In July, 2017 he has been invited to conduct on the Narnia Arts Festival (Narni, Italy), where he will conduct fully-staged performances of Puccini's Suor Angelica and Gianni Schichi at the Teatro del Opera.
