This two-hander is a darkly comic, meta-theatrical exploration
of intimacy and the occult in the age of algorithms . It follows a
podcaster-turned-witch and a queer academic obsessed with
Mary MacLane, the radical early feminist who once declared
her desire to marry the Devil. Through ritual, satire, and
digital-age confession, the play interrogates how we curate
identity and seek connection in a world of endless
performance.
It’s All Hallows’ Eve, and Rachel, a podcaster and self-proclaimed witch, is
about to record her spookiest episode yet—one she hopes will turn her
show, Love, Lust, and Lilith, into a real-life audio sensation.
For this special episode, her guest is Jeremy, a queer scholar and expert
on the "real" Mary MacLane: the writer who scandalized the early 1900s
with her unapologetic devotions. Together, they embark on a ritual that’s
part séance and part emotional exorcism, attempting to resurrect Mary’s
spirit. The question is: what happens if Mary brings a date? Her Prince
Charming, her knight in shining armour... Satan himself.
