Singer, songwriter, pianist and cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson performs live in the Elgar Room.
Ayanna has a phenomenal mastery for seamlessly crossing the boundaries of classical, jazz, reggae, soul and R&B, to imprint her unique musical signature with her virtuosic tap, strum and bow with her cello into her sound and vibe.
“As a second-generation Jamaican born in Britain, my music is a body of work that represents, celebrates and pays homage to my ancestral heritage, culture and identity” explains Ayanna.
An acclaimed and celebrated performer, she has collaborated with many stellar artists, including Anoushka Shankar, Nitin Sawhney, Andrea Bocelli and Jools Holland. She has also toured extensively across the UK, Europe and the US.
This October, renowned multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Nitin Sawhney is set to once more headline and curate the Journeys Festival, an eclectic five-day programme which returns to the Royal Albert Hall following the festival’s sell-out debut in 2021. The season also features an exhibition by photographer Alan Comptonand recitals from Indian classical musician Jasdeep Singh Degun and composer and vocalist Ayanna Witter-Johnson.
Pop legend Sir Cliff Richard, songwriter Guy Chambers, and Syrian-American folk artist Bedouine will all perform as part of the Royal Albert Hall's programme of exclusive streamed shows.
