Arthur Miller's rarely seen adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's thriller 'An Enemy of the People' opened at the Union Theatre in Southwark last week to sell-out performances. Set in the Trump era, Phil Willmott's bold staging and talented cast is attracting new and diverse audiences.
Phil Willmott's updating of An Enemy of the People could hardly be more timely, but falls a little flat for want of some attention to detail.
Get a first look at Arthur Miller's AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE running at the Union Theatre until 2nd February. The play is based on Ibsen's drama of free speech and fake news, adapted from a play by Henrik Ibsen. The cast includes Darren Ruston, Janaki Gerard, Jed Shardlow, Angelo Leal, Mary Stewart, David Mildon, Emily Byrt, Seamus Newham, and Mark Grindrod. It is directed by Phil Willmott.
The Union Theatre announced the return of the Phil Willmott Company for a fourth season of ESSENTIAL CLASSICS: productions in which great writers of the past have reflected on issues we face today. The theme of this year's series is ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE and features Arthur Miller's timely An Enemy of the People, Offenbach's frivolous musical Can-Can! and Othello, William Shakespeare's classic tale of jealousy, passion and revenge. All three productions can be purchased individually or at the 3-show saver price of £50, giving everyone a chance to enjoy these classic works.
