Does anyone know if any further casting has been announced for Sound of Music yet? I know Emma Williams has benn cast as the alternate Maria and Lesley Garrett as the Mother Superior. I also heard that Margaret Preece might be playing this same role on a couple of nights a week but whether this is a rumour i dont know. Any more?

Has it been officially confirmed that Emma Williams will be the alternate Maria? Last I knew it was just a rumor.

An article in the daily express is about as reliable as someone saying on here that their best friends cleaner's mum heard it from her friends son whos an usher at the palladium.

LOVED her in Bat Boy. But nothing on earth would get me into see a R&H musical (although I dislike G&S FAR more).

Having Emma in the show whould be the only reason i would bother to go unless who ever is cast as the Captin is worth seeing.

Im quite enjoying the TV show and its a brilliant PR move. But Emma Williams is without doubt the most obvious Maria choice there is and I hoep she is performing Nov 18th in the evening when I see the show! In a show that sells by its name 'star' casting isnt really needed.

It is a brilliant PR move! I just hope that the right girl gets the lead role because everyone knows that the British like an underdog!! I dont think that Laura should have gone over Helena on Saturday although Helena did sing 'No Matter What' slightly better. Laura's main song was very good, i mean what on earth was Helena trying to do in her song?! I think she was trying to be sultry but that really didnt work!!!! However, Lord Lloyd Webber knows best...

I'd consider booking to see this show if they announced Emma Williams was starring - when it starts, do you think they'll publish her schedule?

"Murder is a very British thing, isn't it? I mean, it's almost like a hobby over there."
"Why do you insist you must hear the words? When you know I cannot give you words. Not the ones you need..."

I personally think Earl Carpenter would make a great Captain!

Yes I agree, Earl Carpenter would be a great choice, but he would be wasted in what is mainly an acting and not singing role.

Be nice to see Earl Carpenter in something that he doesnt hide behind a mask. Saw him in Sunset Blvd and he was great!

I think Michael Ball could be a good captain von trapp. he and emma had great chemistry on stage together when in chitty 4 years ago. emma has a beautiful voice for such a young age as she is only 22. she was 18 when she was in chitty chitty bang bang.

I do not think Earl would be wasted. He is a fine actor first and foremost. There is a reason he rose from understudy to lead and surviving near career peril: He is a fine actor with a good voice. There are better voices in the WE but none with the acting chops to match Earl.
