West End Theatres Discussing Closing for 2012 Olympics

According to BBC News, the possibility of closing West End productions for the 2012 Summer Olypics in London is still being discussed. Theatre owner Stephen Waley-Cohen commented: "There's a lot of discussion and disagreement about what is going to happen."

He continued: "Personally, I think that the two-and-a-half weeks of the Olympics will see pretty poor attendances in theatres because people will be focused on sport. I hope I'm going to be proved wrong. There's concern and anxiety, but as far as we're concerned we'll be doing eight shows a week."

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the xx Olympiad, are scheduled to take place in London, England, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
