As reported back in April by BroadwayWorld, Tracey Ullman will make her return to the London stage in a production of Stephen Poliakoff's MY CITY at Almida Theatre. Reheasals will begin next month.

Poliakoff told the Gaurdian,  "The teacher Ullman plays turns out to be a darker character than they remembered. Some teachers, we all know, are terrible and some are great and have an extraordinary effect. You are partly reduced to a child again, even though you are an adult."

He added:"It is set in contemporary London, so I am returning to the urban world that I first wrote about in the 1970s. It is about two 30-year-olds going back to meet up with their teachers. These were people who had been very helpful to them when they were young because they were dyslexic, but of course, when they meet again they feel rather differently about the whole thing and have this slightly hallucinatory evening together."

Ullman's early appearances were on British TV sketch comedy shows A Kick Up the Eighties (with Rik Mayall and Miriam Margolyes) and Three of a Kind (with Lenny Henry and David Copperfield). She also appeared as Candice Valentine in Girls On Top with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.

Along with her television work, Ullman has featured in many films throughout her career. After the cancellation of The Tracey Ullman Show in 1990, she made her starring debut alongside Kevin Kline, River Phoenix and Joan Plowright in I Love You To Death. Ullman has also appeared in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Nancy Savoca's Household Saints, 'Bullets Over Broadway', Small Time Crooks, A Dirty Shame, and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. She had a small role in Paul McCartney's film Give My Regards to Broad Street
