Theatre legend Andrew Lloyd Webber recently sat down with Sky News to chat about his SUPERSTAR search for a 'Jesus' to lead the upcoming JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR UK arena tour. While he was there, Lloyd Webber touched on the judges that will sit by his side, bringing new technology to the show, and what he'll be looking for in the contestants. Last February, ITV1 and Andrew Lloyd Webber announced the show, described as "a brand new show that will give the British public the chance to choose the country’s next major rock star." The show seeks the new lead in an arena tour of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, to kick of at the O2 Arena in London.

Lloyd Webber is still in the process of choosing the rest of the judging panel, which will decide who will play JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR's lead role in the tour. The callback panel currently includes Jason Donovan and former Spice Girl Mel C. The show will air as a two-week special in July 2012.

Though Lloyd Webber's previous reality searches (How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, I'd Do Anything, Any Dream Will Do and Over The Rainbow) aired on the BBC, ITV is not a stranger to musical reality shows as it aired 'Grease is the Word' in 2007, casting a Danny and Sandy in the London revival of Grease.
