Nearly 50 years ago, Buddy Holly tragically died in a plane crash aged just 22. Buddy tells the story of the three years in which he became the world's top recording artist with a show that features over 20 of Buddy Holly's greatest hits including "Peggy Sue", "That'll be the Day", "Oh Boy", "Rave On", "Heartbeat" and "Raining in my Heart". The show follows the tragically short life of the star from his first recording contract through his move to New York, concluding with his fatal tour of Midwest America with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. Buddy sings his way from the recording studio in Nashville, Tennessee to Harlem's Apollo Theatre, culminating in a live rock 'n' roll extravaganza at the 'Winter Dance Party' finale. Buddy is written by Alan Janes & Rob Bettinson.

The show originally opened in the West End in 1989 at the Victoria Palace Theatre, where it rocked the theatre until 30 September 1995 and became the theatres longest running show. The show then transferred to the Strand Theatre (renamed Novello Theatre in 2005) on 6 October 1995. The production closed for good in the West End on 3 March 2002. The musical has since toured the UK and internationally. Now Buddy is back after a five year absence...Rave On!
