A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

A Star-studded Celebration of 100 Years of New Wimbledon Theatre

Sunday 26 September 2010 - 7.00pm

With a unique variety line-up to help celebrate New Wimbledon Theatre's 100th Birthday, A Centennial Celebration will see a glittering cast of comedy, music and dance stars join together for one night only to commemorate the ‘Grand Old Lady of Wimbledon's Broadway' in her centenary year.

New Wimbledon Theatre are delighted to announce the first list of many stars who have all kindly agreed to lend their talent and support to the gala performance, which will raise money for the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund (EABF) and the Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (WCTT).

Performing will be (in alphabetical order): Alistair McGowan, Barry Cryer, Bobby Davro, Catherine Tate, Four Poofs & a Piano, Gareth Gates, Joe Pasquale, June Whitfield, Paul Zerdin, Rick Wakeman, Ron Moody, Stavros Flatley...with more to be announced!*

This exciting mix of talent includes return appearances from legends of the comedy and musical Theatre Worlds, many of whom are well known friends of the venue. The show will be packed with laughter, song, dance and birthday tributes - a glorious celebration of New Wimbledon Theatre's 100 years of theatrical history.

The show will be directed by Kevin Bishop who has been Executive Producer for nine Royal Variety Performances, four Children's Royal Variety Performances, The BAFTA Television Awards, The Eurovision Song Contest from Birmingham in 1998 and numerous comedy television programmes.

The theatre is grateful to Wimbledon-born PR supremo Max Clifford who, together with Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund Director Peter Elliott, has been vitally important in making the show happen!

Maralyn Sarrington, Executive General Manager of New Wimbledon Theatre said: "A Centennial Celebration will be a joyous, unique evening and the fact that we are raising funds to support such great charities is the icing on the birthday cake. This is a "must-have" ticket."

With further acts to be announced in due course, A Centennial Celebration promises to be a night to remember.
