Jonathan Pryce to Star in Revival of 'Dimetos' at Donmar Warehouse This Spring

What's on Stage is reporting that actor Jonathan Pryce will be starring in a revival of Athol Fugard's Dimetos this upcoming Spring. The show will run as part of Donmar Warehouse's season from March 25h, 2008 to May 9th, 2009. The production will be directed by Donmar Associate Director Douglas Hodge.

Multi award-winning Jonathan Pryce's extensive London theatre credits include Glengarry Glen Ross, The Goat for The Almeida Theatre - which transferred to the West End, A Reckoning for Soho Theatre, Professor Higgins in Trevor Nunn's production of My Fair Lady which opened at The National Theatre before transferring to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Oliver for the London Palladium, Miss Saigon also for the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Hamlet for the Royal Court, Antony and Cleopatra for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Comedians for the Old Vic.  He has most recently been playing Lawrence Jameson in Jack O'Brien's Broadway production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.  On film his recent credits include Weatherby Swann in the Pirates of the Carribean Trilogy, My Zinc Bed, Brothers of the Head, De-Lovely, Evita and Carrington.  His television credits include "Victoria and Albert," "HR" and "Selling Hitler."

Pryce will be starring in the title role of Dimetos. "Exhausted with life in the city as a highly skilled engineer, Dimetos escapes to a remote coastal village with his niece and housekeeper in search of a simpler existence. Five years on, a stranger from the metropolis arrives to tempt him back with devastating consequences," describe press notes of the rarely performed 1975 drama.
