According to the Daily Mail, THRILLER LIVE's Gary Lloyd is set to helm Dean Pitchford, Michael Gore and Lawrence D. Cohen's revised version of CARRIE THE MUSICAL for Southwark Playhouse this summer. The show will begin May 1 for a four-week run. The team is planning on holding open auditions for the lead role.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Stephen King, CARRIE THE MUSICAL features a revised book by Cohen (the film's screenwriter), lyrics by Oscar-winner Pitchford (FAME, FOOTLOOSE), and music by Academy Award-winner Michael Gore (FAME).

The original version of CARRIE THE MUSICAL played a pre-Broadway try-out with the RSC in England, followed by a 1988 opening on Broadway, starring Linzi Hateley and Betty Buckley as Carrie and her mother, respectively. The show closed on the Great White Way after just 16 previews and 5 performances. In response, the creative team re-vamped the musical for a slightly more successful off-Broadway revival in 2012 with Molly Ranson in the title role.

CARRIE THE MUSICAL follows 17-year-old Carrie White, bullied by her peers school and by her frighteningly religious mother at home, who discovers she has telekenetic powers. When a prank at Carrie's high school prom goes horribly wrong, she wields her power to punish everyone who wronged her.
