Full Casting Announced For BLOOD WEDDING Reimagined For London

The seven-strong cast includes award-winning actor Maria de Lima (NATIONAL THEATRE OF SCOTLAND and Almeida Theatre), Yorgos Karmalegos (Founder of TMESIS THEATRE COMPANY and COMPLICITÉ collaborator) and Racheal Ofori (playwright and poet PORTRAIT produced by FUEL and SO MANY REASONS headliner at CALM DOWN DEAR FESTIVAL, CPT).

Blood Wedding has been adapted and directed by George Richmond-Scott (associate director,

EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE, Apollo Theatre). The creative team includes movement director Patricia Suarez, dramaturg Fay Lomas, award-winning lighting director Jack Weir and Offie nominated sound designer Daniel Balfour (GREAT APES, ARCOLA). The Blood Wedding set and costumes will be designed by Christianna Mason (ACID TEST, COCKPIT ARTS and SECRET CINEMA). Original live music will be performed by composer and singer Camilla Mathias.

Think it'll get better? You know it's a lie.

We're burning up inside and it's destroying us both.

What happens when it's too late to escape - then you open the door and run?
Will fate cut you down? Will you ever breathe easily again?

Celebrated Spanish dramatist Federico García Lorca's classic tragedy of familial conflict and fated love is pulled into sharp focus in this seductive and urgent re-imagining. Set in modern day London, this contemporary adaptation of passion and vendetta explosively blends grit, fate and claustrophobia, with a streak of dark humour. Performed in a bold physical style with original live music and movement.

George Richmond-Scott said:

"Directing a modern adaptation of Blood Wedding has been a long-held ambition of mine, an opportunity to explore Lorca's classic through a new lens and what that means in the context of a modern urban world; reinventing his poetry to express the wants of city dwellers in 2018. We have developed a strong physical language that explores this deeply whilst honouring the original."
